BEM Kicks-Off

On March 25 we kicked off business education month with a breakfast at the Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre. Keynote speaker Corey Poirier presented on The Productivity Factor and gave some great points on how to be more productive in both your personal and professional life. In case you missed it, here’s a summary:

• The power hour/120 minute to win it. First thing in the morning spend 60 or 120 minutes on yourself. Corey’s example was 20 minutes reading, 20 minutes yoga, 20 minutes meditation. Corey goes even further to add an extra 60 minutes of sales calls.
• E + R = O. Event + Reaction = Outcome. The event cannot be changed, however you can change your reaction and change the outcome.
• The power of no. Create your own personal mission statement and only take on new projects that fall within that mission statement.
• 80/20 rule. 80% of the benefits come from 20% of your efforts.
• ABC prioritize. Prioritize your day/tasks into ABC. A’s are your 20% (the most important), C’s see little benefit.
• Time blocking your day
• Weekly register. Organize your weekly goals and check off once complete! Here’s a copy of the weekly register example that Corey showed:

Thank you to the kick off sponsors: Servus Credit Union, Synergy Credit Union, and Community Futures Entrepreneurs with Disabilities. Thank you to our photographer, Don Whiting Photography, and to our Master of Ceremonies, Gerard Lampow.

BEM Wrap Up

Barbara Stegemann

Barbara Stegemann - Keynote Speaker

Robin Acton - M.C for the Evening

Barbara Stegemann key note speaker

The 15th Annual Business Education Month Wrap Up Event took place Wednesday evening on March 25th, 2015 at the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre.

It was an evening full of laughter, inspiration, motivation and networking.

Keynote speaker Barbara Stegemann, author and CEO of The 7 Virtues Beauty Inc. inspired all of us with her story of overcoming poverty, adversity and the tragedy of her best friend wounded in Afghanistan. Barb promised him she would support his mission of peace through economic development and has since created an award winning fragrance collection that supports suppliers in countries like Afghanistan, Haiti and the Middle East. She is truly an inspiration to both men and women and Lloydminster was pleased to have her at this event.
